There are moments when you may feel as though God is not there. My question is "what are your thoughts?" Sometimes a misdirected focus can lead us to believe that God has forgotten about us. In Psalm 22:1, the Psalmist cried out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?"
When we focus on our problems and what we may not have, we tend to think that God has forgotten about us. God wants us to focus on his promises and not our problems. In Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) the scripture reads, "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
The reassurance lies in the fact that God will never leave you nor forsake you. When that moment comes, and it will come when you feel as though God has forgotten about you, this is the time to draw near to him through prayer. This is the time to refresh yourself with the promises of His word. Redirect your thoughts to the great and precious promises of God because His word filters peace in our lives.
In Philippians 4:6-7...
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
In I Peter 5:7
Cast all you anxiety on him because he cares for you.
God never stops caring for us. "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him (Lamentations 3:22-24)."
LET'S PRAY:
Dear God, I acknowledge that you are Jehovah Shammah, you will will never leave me nor forsake. Thank you that your mercies are new every morning. I proclaim your unfailing love in my life every morning and your faithfulness every evening. Your word assures me that I will not be consumed today because of your tender mercies. Today, I hope in your word (Psalm 119:81).
