Pray for Marriages

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate (Mark 10:6-9).”

The marriage union is God's covenant idea designed to enable both partners to fully live out their divine purpose for being. It takes hard work, time, and a commitment to God's unchanging word to build a strong marriage. Strong marriages make strong families. Strong families make strong churches. Strong churches make strong communities. And strong communities make a strong nation. Let's pause today to pray for marriages across America.

Marriage Prayer: "Lord, thank you for my spouse. I lift (him/her) to you today and pray, according to Your Word, that my spouse would love you with all of his/her heart, soul, mind and strength (Luke 10:27). I exercise my faith to pray for my spouse not according to my selfish desires but according to Your Word, that You hear me and the answers to my prayers will be known. I pray that my spouse will have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5). I pray that my spouse's steps (Psalm 119:133) will be ordered by your word and evil will be far from (him/her). I pray that my spouse will be full of wisdom and seeks understanding (Proverbs 4:6-7). In faith, I pray that my spouse will focus his/her eyes on Jesus as they grow in faith, and that through Christ his/her faith is brought to maturity. I pray that my spouse remains faithful to you in all things (Hebrews 12:1-2). Holy Spirit, imbue my spouse with the qualities and characteristics of God. I trust you, Lord, to grow my spouse to full maturity so that he/she will fully live out his/her divine purpose for being, in the name of Jesus, amen!
