We have made it to day 19 of 21 Days of Prayer. Lets keep going. Life is a pool of opportunities! A buffet table filled with possibilities! And just as a person seeking to eat healthy, you must choose wisely.
When wisdom enters into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee (Proverbs 2:10-11 KJV).
The man or woman who seeks God daily will grow in wisdom and understanding. That doesn't mean you'll become a so-called "Bible thumper". It means you will be a person of discretion, able to evaluate circumstances and after considering the options, you will make better decisions. There is a passage found in Luke 10 that describes a time when Jesus came to a village and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. When Jesus arrived, Martha was running around working to make preparations but her sister Mary plopped down at Jesus's feet and listened to what he was saying. Eventually Martha became upset and complained to Jesus that Mary wasn't helping with all of the work. She asked him to tell her to come help. Look at what he told her in verses 41 and 42,
"Martha, Martha! You are worried and troubled over so many things, but just one is needed. Mary has chosen the right thing, and it will not be taken away from her (GNB)."
Have you been worried about anything lately? Has anything troubled you? How does one handle the situation? Choose wisely. Mary sat down and listened to the Lord's teaching. Yes, there was stuff that needed to be done. But Jesus said the one thing Mary chose was the right thing and He would not allow that to be taken away.
Pray: Lord, it's my desire to choose wisely. There are so many possibilities and so many opportunities, that I'm not always sure what to do. But today, I will stop and listen for your voice. Praying daily helps me to hear. Including Your wisdom in my decisions is making me wise. Give me discretion. Make me prudent. Increase my understanding. Show me the dreams that will heal me, bring peace and make me whole. With Your help, I will make better decisions. I will choose wisely. In Jesus's name, Amen!
