We have come to day 10 of 21 Days of Prayer. With every new year comes new thought about things we would like to change. Whether it's something good that you'd like to make better or a problem that needs fixing, we end up with a list of things that we really want to work on. Several years ago, I was given advice by an older gentleman. He said, If you have several things to do and really want to make progress, you must complete one thing at a time. As I thought about that, it made so much sense! Obvious, simple and so true. Philippians 3:13-14 says, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this ONE THING I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Multi-tasking is so overrated. If you're always working and getting nothing completed, what's the point? In our passage today, we see that progress is made when we decide to do one thing and press forward.
LET'S PRAY
Father in heaven, show me one thing that I can focus on until it is accomplished. Keep me in your will as I do it. I am confident in your promise that I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13) But help me to choose the one thing that is expedient and when it is completed, help me to choose another thing that edifies. When I look back, let my joy be full because of all the things I accomplish by doing them one at a time. Now I praise you in advance for a year of finishing what I start. In Jesus's name, Amen!
