Now, you’re probably thinking this is a common core math problem. Actually, this is God’s formula for multiplied blessings. You may recall the story in the bible about the two fish and five loaves of bread. “Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish (Mark 6:41).” God wants you to know that He is your source. Sometimes we think we don’t have much, but the blessing comes from God.
God is your source.
So, what’s your 2-fish and 5-loaves today? Do you have the faith to trust God to bless what you already have? Are you willing to share your blessings? God knows that despite your circumstances, you are a candidate for a miracle, if only you’d believe. Not only does God want to bless you, but he wants to multiply the blessing so that you have enough to share with others. In God's kingdom, 2 + 5 is greater than five thousand. In this passage of scriptures, the number two represents God the Father and God the Son. The number five represents God’s grace, goodness, and favor towards humans. The number 12 represents His power and authority.
Your assignment is greater than your resources
but God is your source.
Notice that after Jesus blessed the 2-fish and 5-loaves, they fed 5000 men not counting women and children. Not only did the multitude eat, but his disciples ate too and they were satisfied. Now, God went one step further. He gave them a bonus of 12 baskets of leftover bread and fish. In Louisiana, we call this lagniappe, which means a little something extra. Your assignment is greater than your resources but God is your source. Give your lack to God and watch him turn your lack into a miracle.
Say this prayer: Father God, too often I have trusted in my own resources. Forgive me for my lack of faith. The assignment you have given me is greater than my resources but I BELIEVE that you are my source. I bring my gifts and talents to you. Father, bless my gifts and talents so that they will be used to bless others. Bless my 2-fish and 5-loaves. You are my source for multiplied blessings. You are my source for giving and sharing with others. You are my source for a little something extra. Thank you for providing everything that I need to bring glory to your name. I BELIEVE that 2+5>5000.
